Dude! Your corals and photography are both killer.
What is the blue acro? Love that one in particular.
Thanks. The blue acro is from SBB called "Shanes Fantasy" Acro. I got it in an auction. I almost lost this one in all the tank changes. It just started recouping now. Can’t wait until fully recovered and colored up.

Photo of the day. Duncan with babies.
Nice Duncan.! I have one that had babies and then all of sudden went "dormant" for like a month - hasn't extended its polyps. I moved it to a new location. Hopefully it works out. I had one in my old tank ~5 years ago and this happened and never came back. Good luck to you and your awesome tank! thumbnail_IMG_4692.jpg

Thanks and sorry about that. This one definitely has its favorite spot. Front left corner of the tank. I've moved it to a few other places, but really likes it there and there it shall stay. 👍

Nice control display for under $40.

It's very convenient installed on the cabinet in front of the tank. I have it on magnets so I just pull and use if I want it in my hands. Lots of times I don't have my phone or iPad on me then have to go look for it to do things. It's always on and charged up for viewing and using.

What model is this? Assume it’s an Android device? I might pick up a cheap one on Black Friday. I used an old iPad mini before but this is bigger.

Yes, it’s an Android device. Not the fastest processor or anything but works fine. Just happened to post about it a few minutes ago here.

Very cool pics — congrats! I totally suck at taking tank pictures.

Glad to see your tank is taking off.
Thanks man. Just wishful thinking that this trajectory continues forever. But we all know that this is a pipe dream. Something will always go sideways. I guess if there wasn’t challenges, it wouldn’t be as compelling a hobby to stick with.

We’ve all been there so always learning and advancing the hobby. That’s why reefing can be very challenging yet rewarding at the same time.

I did some PAR readings with my VBR PAR meter. The lights were set at 80% on all channels and is 14" from the water surface. From readings on this meter compared to the Apogee 510, you have to add approximately 32% per VBR. Here are the readings. Bottom shows what the actual PAR is.

For some reason the RB Meridian 11 (middle light) is putting out less output than it should. I need to call RB about it.

Corrected the chart above per the guidance below. This is the unit I'm using Amazon Link. I would really like to get a hold of a 510 for comparison. Also, there are several versions of this meter. Mine is the latest with the large and small sensors.

Accurate PAR Readings – No Immersion Correction Applied

par meter aquarium

The PAR meter is calibrated similarly to a famous brand and provides direct sensor readings of PAR (µmol/m²/s).

Unlike the XX-510, VBR-Aqua does not apply an Immersion Effect Correction Factor (IECF).

As a result, underwater PAR values appear about 25% lower higher than those from an XX-510 — this is expected and does not mean the readings are inaccurate.
