Corrected the chart above per the guidance below. This is the unit I'm using Amazon Link. I would really like to get a hold of a 510 for comparison. Also, there are several versions of this meter. Mine is the latest with the large and small sensors.

Accurate PAR Readings – No Immersion Correction Applied​

The PAR meter is calibrated similarly to a famous brand and provides direct sensor readings of PAR (µmol/m²/s).​

Unlike the XX-510, VBR-Aqua does not apply an Immersion Effect Correction Factor (IECF).

As a result, underwater PAR values appear about 25% lower higher than those from an XX-510 — this is expected and does not mean the readings are inaccurate.

This is very interesting to me. I have never heard of the 32% error. When @telegraham did his review he found a correction of 17% necessary (IIRC).

Correct on the version he was using. I think there has been 4 versions and mine is the latest one. I'm applying what VBR says to my meter. I would love to get my hands on an Apogee 510 to compare and see how accurate the percentage is they are saying is.

Very interesting. I might have to get my VBR out and mess with it more. I wonder if the 32% error is more accurate for my specific version also. I just remember feeling like the numbers were wildly low and never messed with it much after my initial measurements because I didn't trust it, even with 17% correction.

Look at what the lenses are to determine version. You may have to search around to see which one it is and what differentials apply.

It sure is. I’m almost fully there. I’m considering a frozen food feeder as some of my fish don’t care for the pellets yet.

That’s why I can never have anthias and fish that require frozen food - they have to eat pellets while I’m away.

Try some TDO chroma boost small pellets. My lyretail Anthias transitioned to them easily. It’s a huge pig for almost everything it can fit in its mouth though. I might have gotten a robust specimen.

I REALLY like the Anthias though. Adds so much color and movement.

As for speed, starting out with half mature and half from Gulf Live Rock was key to a good start.

I have not and to be honest don’t even know what that is. I assume food. Need to look it up now. Thanks.
