Melanurus vs yellow coris wrasse

I have a 50 gallon AIO. Looking to get a wrasse, narrowed it down to these two.

Which one do y’all recommend and why?

Lawnmower blenny
Yellow clown goby
Diamond goby
Royal gramma

Cleaner shrimp
Snails
Blue legged hermits

Might eventually get a small yellow tang (not sure yet, I know I may need to re home eventually)

I’d get the yellow.its a little smaller and gives the bright yellow pop. Mel’s are nice. I had one. But I think I’d grab a yellow next time. And please don’t get the tang. There are plenty of nice colorful and active fish that work in a 50.

That’s a good point. Will the yellow be as hard as a worker as the Mel eating pests? That’s the main reason I’m getting a wrasse.

Good to know about the tang, gone back and forth on it knowing it’ll outgrow the tank.

I haven’t gotten one yet but I’m planning to do a yellow coris wrasse. From what I’ve read they’re almost as hard working as melanurus and more peaceful, particularly with ornamental shrimp

I had both . I say I had both because my yellow Canary wrasse (there is no yellow coris ) one night saw him out of the sand and didnt see during the day . The following night saw it again out at night adn now its gone so assuming CUC got him. No idea why he just suddenly died. Wasnt a new fish had him for nearly a year .

Anyway both peaceful, both never really bothered any inverts etc. Now my marble or checkerboard wrasse that is supposed to be peaceful that one is the bully. Replaced the yellow canary with a two spot as its not as common of a fish. Checkerboard still the bully.

Id recommend any Halichoeres family wrasse (not 6 line though) for pest control ..works for me since just like QTing i dont dip corals. This crap is already costly dont need to be wasting more with useless dips that dont kill eggs and your eyes can normally spot.

I put a yellow (Halichoeres chrysus) in my 40 breeder. He is a model citizen. Friendly to everything, doesn't mess with inverts, and spends all day picking at the rocks and glass. He is even best buddies with my little clown that is in there, it's really cute!
