I always have a screen top on my tank when I have this guy in the tank so I don't know. Wrasse hit the screen a lot but I don't pay attention as to which wrasse. Then I see them jumping, it always the Fairy and Flasher, never the other wrasses. This is not the same as no jumping, not when I see it. I likely see less than 25% of all jump.Beautiful. I’ll definitely consider one for my setup. What have been your experiences with them jumping?

This is likely true. I keep Leopard wrasses many years without screen top and have never lost even one to jumping. Leopard, like Melanurus are sand bed wrassesMore likely to go for the sand when startled. But lids are still important, as it only takes once.
Mine never jumped. Most wrasses jump when spooked, but mine would dart around the tank then dive into the sand if it didn't like what I was doing.Beautiful. I’ll definitely consider one for my setup. What have been your experiences with them jumping?
Any time they say with caution I don’t get it.. welcomeHey guys,
Been thinking about picking up a Melanurus wrasse but am not too familiar with them. I noticed on a few fish vender websites they categorize them as “reef safe: with caution”. I wasn’t sure if people have had any negative experience that would suggest not adding one. I currently run a 75g mixed reef. Thanks!
They have the potential to eat inverts. Thats the caution part.Any time they say with caution I don’t get it.. welcome
As they get older the more that becomes food.Mine is great tbh . Got a pistol shrimp, pair of harlequins, snails , hermit crabs and porcelain crab and it don't touch them . I do feed it well tho .
