Hey guys think I have narrowed my search down think I might go with the Meridian 35 over my waterbox 65.4. After seeing many peoples reviews and videos of them in action i just wanted to know what you guys go with the OH light setup or the 14K setup. What do you guys think or what are you guys doing on your own tank. pictures would be amazing if possible! I'm not doing edge bars because the tank is so narrow. I know its purely subjective/ self preference just curious. Wish Reef breeders did a side by side of the 2. Thanks in advance!

@Reef Breeders should be able to guide you on which one most customers choose? Maybe?

That being said I would also like to see what the community is choosing PLUS photos!

Can't go wrong with the Meridians.

sorry about that! I’m not sure if this is a newer thing but they come in 2 different led layouts. You have to choose which you want. more blue or less blue

Yes, the 14k option for the Meridian's is new. Likely not a lot of comparisons out there. I just bought mine a few months ago and only options were the OG's. I did have options with the edge bars and got the 14k's. Overall, I really like the lights. Tough to get a good picture during the day at my house. windows and reflections everywhere. Here's a picture as the whites just started to ramp up. The picture has too much purple in it to real life, but these lights really do make the corals pop like the picture. I will try and get a pic tonight with the whites on when it's dark.

I would have to say mine are OG's, as I do not remember there being an option, and Logan (I believe) didn't mention it when I was chatting with him.
White LEDs are easy to spot ..just count em .
Yellow or yellow orange from the phosphors.

But yea sounds like you got the orig one

Tried to do a better shot with whites on. Still on the iPhone. Need to break out the DSLR for better photos.

I think if I had a choice, I'd go with the 14k's as that's my preferred look for most of the day.

I can help with that and thank you for considering the Meridian. We do not have the spectrum visuals posted yet and I am sorry about that. Our team has been focused on updates for current Meridian owners, but the visuals and comparisons are coming soon.

We lean a lot on real world feedback since it is usually the most trusted information for people deciding on anything about the Meridian. Hearing from actual owners gives a clearer picture than anything a company can say on its own.

For the layouts the original one is now called Ocean Deep. It has the deeper blue look with strong fluorescence. The new 14k layout is now called Shallow Reef which was chosen through the poll we ran yesterday on Instagram. It has double the white and goes deeper into the UV spectrum. If you enjoy a brighter daylight look or a more shallow reef appearance at times then Shallow Reef may be the layout you prefer. Both layouts grow coral extremely well so it really comes down to the look you enjoy.

One helpful thing to know is that most community schedules right now are built around Ocean Deep. If you choose Shallow Reef and make a schedule later it helps to label it so others know which layout it is for.

As a bit of good news if you ever want to change your spectrum in the future the Meridian makes that easy. Swapping the LED board to a different layout is not difficult.

If you have any other questions I am happy to help.

I think that was just posted online yesterday by Logan so yes the 14K aka Shallow Reef Spectrum is brand new.

Wow straight from the horses mouth thank you so much for your response!! I can’t wait to place my order! I’m going to have to think about this. I do like a bit lighter tank and it’s going to be in the central part of the house the 14k’s look very promising!
