Mesh Mod Question

For anyone who uses a skimmer with a mesh mod, Do you ever have to re-do the mesh mod? Does it wear out?

My skimmer was producing a real good thick foam at first when I did the mod, but lately it darely seems to have any real production. I have tried to tweak it and such with no difference.

I thought of 2 possible issues so posted both questions to see.

The skimmer is not able to be removed from the sump but the pump can be.

I had a mesh mod on my ASM G3 and I had to redo the mesh mod. I can't I forget how often I redid it though. I had the skimmer for 4 years and I think I redid it twice.

I think if you redid the mesh every year that would be plenty. I just redid mine after 18+ months and it makes a difference, but the skimmer was working fine - I just redid it because I had the enkamat laying around.

I would do it like every 6 months the mesh does clog and fall apart after awhile...if your running ozone it will fall apart quickly...
