Right .."selective editing" for effect...

Back and forth, back and forth...
Maybe, but is still part of the article name and is relevant.

What difference does that make?
Really move goalposts much?

The contest you spoke of, is mostly caused by people who spent a ridiculous amount of money to have the "it " light brand over their display for bragging rights, being challenged by other options that take attention away from them.

Example Joe set up a planet aquarium low iron display with xr30g5, full apex, dosing monitoring ect ect.

Joe mentions all his equipment by brand name every time he discusses his display, to brag that he's into it for 20k+ without livestock.

Pete set up the same size display, low iron,
Mh, a basic or no controller simple doser ect.

Pete is into his for 7k.

When Joe and pete are in a group discussion, and Pete talks about his system Joe feels offended that Pete is pulling everyone else's attention away from Joe's.
This is double true when Pete's corals are larger and he doesn't battle dinos and cyano. Joe feels he's being personally attacked and starts interrupting Pete, screaming and arguing with Pete. He then tries to get Pete kicked out of the group or change the conversation, saying Pete has nothing to offer lol.
Hopefully this is a clear enough example .
Who are Joe and Pete, and let's see the simulated pics! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I looked though BRS site. looks to be gone. I guess if there not going to sell MH anymore why keep it. I bet Grandis has a copy.

Metal Halide and T5 Grow Corals Better Than LED and Cost Less—Why Not Keep It Old School?

Marine Depot March 6th, 2018

Hamilton Cebu Sun Lighting System with Metal Halide and T5

With all the buzz about LED lighting you might be thinking everyone has tossed their metal halides and T5 light fixtures into the recycling bin.

While it’s true LED reef lighting offers a lot of programming and automation options, not everyone has made the switch or is unhappy with their existing conventional lighting system. In fact, some reef aquarists have actually switched back to MH and T5 fixtures.

We’ll take a look at this well-tested lighting technology and see why it is still used by aquarists, public aquariums, and coral propagation operations on a world-wide scale.

Could it be right for you?

Eyes are old.. brain not so much..yet..

Here is another hard to find historical link.
Do not think Hamilton has a web link to it on their site.
NOW you got something ..
Keep in mind the "bias" of Hamilton (for the conspiracy minded)

Wonder if Hamilton would stand by that article today..
I'm betting they would. There is a lot of truths in there or at least I see them as truths in till proven other wise.

Funny thing, the Marine Depot page is plastered with links to Hamilton products and the one direct Hamilton article.
Hmm.... ( Sorry just yanking chains)

Soo ignore CoralLabs actual attempt at proof . :)

Even if every word was true (don' t think all of it is today) THE thing that gets soooooo easy ignored is needs/ wants of INDIVIDUALS.
Not to mention such a broad brush .

But hasn't Radion written articles stating their lights are so much better than MH? I'm not positive they did, But I do seem to remember reading something from them along those lines. Just marketing at its finest.

So who can you believe in if the Ecotech Marine CoralLabs can't be believed?
I never said that if it was directed at me. I personally don't care what lights people use, I only care about results. I've seen a lot of nice tanks under both lights. I've tried to go LED only, a few times, but have had to switch back to MH each time.

That's Ecotech Marine, the makers of Radion.
Critique the methods not the source
Or someone should run their own .
Shooting the messenger and ignoring the message seems to be all the rage today

And Marine Depot had a vested interest in selling mh' s along w/ Hamilton.

Agree that to " solve" the issue one needs 3rd party data but you know what, with the current " state if the art" and the possible
small differences and the number of species and thier own variability nobody want to waste money.

So pretty much stuck with what you got.

It was sarcasm in regards to a company's own labs showing the benefits of it's own product.

I linked to what I could find. Nobody wants to go into the details of the experiments to see what they came up with. Too many syllables.
