i recently got a replacement fixture but this one has metal holders instead of the rubber coated ones on my other fixtures. will this affect anything?

Nope, in fact these are better. Aquatic life was having issues with the holders with the rubber sleeves melting onto bulbs and breaking bulbs when trying to remove them if they were cold.
