I ran across a MH bulb called Megachrome Crystal and in the write up a 3 year life was stated?? Has any one used these bulbs and if so are they worth the $$ which is about double the price of other bulbs and 20-30 $$ more then Ushio's that I have heard is the best MH. They have a 14.5 and a 17.5 any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Never used them but heard of them... I wouldn't trust any bulb over a year no matter what they claim... Dot get me wrong they will light every day for 15 years but the spectrum shifts and in a aquarium that leads to problems... Hth

really best way to tell is have a spectrum meter, but that is some big $$$.

Otherwise really you are just guessing, which is not really a big deal but... I run my bulbs long usually 12-14 months not the best idea but i just forget about it most of the time...
