Today’s little project was to tidy up the dry side of my cabinet.
This is what you would call a beta test that I threw together to see if I like theirs solution.
And I couldn’t find any double adhesive tape around the house so the controllers aren’t mounted.

I’ve been struggling with the fact that my maxspect razor isn’t giving me enough coverage so I’ve decided to replace it with 3x noopsyche k7’s.
My sisters-in-laws firm has an office in Shenzhen so I’m going to have them delivered there and she will bring them back next time she’s in China, that way I can avoid the insane Swedish custom fees :)

I will be going on a fishing trip to Thailand in a couple of weeks and don’t want to make any changes before then so this is a project for late June.

Thanks! I don’t know what I’m more excited about [emoji1]

One thing I’m not over the moon with in regards to noopsyche is the wonky controller, but I guess it’s a non-issue after initial setup is completed.

Right, last pic before I head away on my eight day fishing trip to Thailand this Thursday.

I’ve done everything I can to prepare the tank so I’m just crossing my fingers that it will be ok for the duration of my trip. My wife is taking care of the tank while I’m away and it’s generally when she’s alone with it, by no fault on her part, something stupid happens [emoji51]
I’ve had a bit of a problem with high nutrients recently, not a big shocker since I’ve been feeding a LOT to limit aggression and help get the regal established.
Unfortunately that was the final straw for my Pac-Man acro that has been struggling since the tank swap.

Speaking of the regal, it’s doing awesome. Eating like a pig and maintaining weight nicely.

Looks like I will be getting my noopsyche lights by the end of the month, I think that will be a nice addition since the sps on the margins of the reef are struggling a bit.

Well that’s a relief! Everything seems to have made it in my absence.

Of course there were a couple of hiccups;
1. for some reason the skimmer shut down without any obvious reason. It had power but when I pulled out the plug and plugged it in again it was running fine.
2. My cheato seems to be struggling after two years of flourishing. There was some die-off and most of it looked fairly pale. I pulled most of it in case it decides to kick the bucket altogether.

Those two things in combination means that my nutrients shot up over where I would like them and a tenius is showing signs of some tissue loss.
I did a 10% WC, increased the nopox dosing and added fresh carbon. Fun times after being awake for 40 hours!

In other news the fishing trip was a great success! Bagged two of my target species, the arapaima, and a bunch of other stuff to.
If you like fishing I can highly recommend exotic fishing Thailand, great place!

Glad everything was good during the fishing trip.
That arapaima looks like a fierce one. Great catch.

My sisters-in-law finally dropped of my new noopsyche lights last night!
4b171d95deabdaeab970d3e6badd9f0b.jpg

One minor hiccup was that they came with Chinese plugs even though I had requested EU ones. No matter, picked up some new cables on my way home from work.

I thought that they would fit like a glove in my canopy but I somehow messed up when I measured the gap and it’s a tad to big so I’m going to have to find a solution for mounting them over the weekend.
Just to try them out I threw two of them on the “wrong” way coupled with my razor.

The controller, or more like the program of the controller sucks the big one, but with a bit of persistence I figured it out.
The lights themselves looks awesome at first glance. Nice spectrum and shimmer without any disco ball effect.

Since I got home fairly late I only got pics when the lights were ramping down.

In other news I added a extra pillar to the left for some more options to mount coral.
With a bit of luck I’ll manage to visit the LFS this Friday!

Looking sweet.
Although I loved the tank with the 2 pillars more, this is a good real estate investment.

My fixture looks like this from above

Here’s my solution for mounting the noopsyches in my fixture, not the most esthetically pleasing solution but it works! [emoji1]

I’m going to do some wire management but apart from that I’m happy.
There’s easily room for one or two more so if they prove themselves that might be something I’ll look in to in the future.

I did manage to visit the LFS on Friday, with my wife’s niece in tow. I let her pick out a couple of corals and what we ended up with was a green alveopora and a some sort of tabling deep water acro (would love an ID on the acro!).

I think I managed to create a lighting schedule that I like on the noopsyches, it’s a modified AB schedule to accommodate for my T5’s and the fact that I prefer high light in the evening when I’m home and can appreciate the tank.

Here’s a short video with T5’s on. Unfortunately the color rendition sucks.

I’ve been thinking about adding goldflake angel as a last “centerpiece” fish to compliment my regal angel and purple tang.

What do you guys think? Could I get away with it with an established regal? Has anyone kept those two angels together?
I’m well aware of that I will most likely have to give it up in a couple of years times when/if it gets cramped.

Those 2 fish are gorgeous! If you add anything, I'd add something eel-like in shape. Oooooooh a Midas Blenny would be a beautiful pop of color and the swimming pattern would showcase him.
