Thanks! I’m super happy [emoji2]

I hope I don’t kill the sps!
I tell you what I ‘accidentally’ found out with SPS, they are very easy to frag, so that single coral frag can easily become 1, 2 ,3 new corals all with the simple act of clumsy stupidity whilst handling them! Lol

When I get a new one now, depending on size, I can’t help myself but to just snap off a free piece!

Loving that stylo! Very nice piece. I told myself I'd keep to softies and LPS, but man are some of the SPS painfully beautiful.

I hear ya! A year ago when I started planning for this tank, I was pretty much thinking softies, zoas, and LPS.

Then as I learned more and gained some confidence I decided I would give SPS a try but only after I was a year in, tank was maturing, and key parameters were stable for a while.

So here we are!

I’m going to see if I can keep these few alive and growing till my good friend in Ohio opens his shop back up. Lazy’s coral house. He bought a new home to have a bigger shop and he is nearing completion. So once he opens, I’m his first new mail order.

PS. They are still alive today!

@Fudsey , here is the video I said I would do. In my last couple videos, you can see the rocks compared to this video.

I also made this one with more white vs blue to better help see the clean rocks, etc.

I even spoke in this video just for you!

I can’t stand my voice when I hear it! Maybe I should have used sub titles!

Is it time for a cup of tea or coffee ?

I’ve got the same kits although I’ve just changed to NYOS for nitrates as I think I’m going colour blind on pinks!

Looks like you’ve forgotten to test for the foundation elements

Cool video with the turkeys, if they were turkeys! Lol

Coffee, turkeys, no real consumption of mag or ca so I’m only testing them once a month.

However I will start testing those more often as I add a few more LPS and SPS.

Cheers!

Do yourself a base line big 3 test, get a reference point?! ;)

Thanks Simon. I actually did last week.

Calcium 460.

Magnesium 1500.

These have been pretty much unchanged for 6 months.

WC’s seem to keep them stable for now.

I know I only added a few small pieces of SPS, but I will now start testing those biweekly to get in the habit.

Thanks again for pointers, recommendations, and guidance.

I appreciate it!

@SPR1968 I have the NYOS nitrate kit and I am not sure I like it. The powder(reagent 2) doesn't always completely dissolve. I think I'm going back to the red sea one

I’m now mounting all my frags so I can keep my hands out of the tank for a while.

Pics or a video later today......maybe.....depending on what time the New Years party starts ;)

I like how easy the Red Sea one is, and I have a special place in the house with the right lighting to read it.

I find it hard to match the pink unless I have the right ambient lighting.

Shake it more! Lol

I just realty struggled with matching the pink even in good daylight, and somebody posted about how they were just having to judge the result more by intensity, and I thought yes thats me.

And anyway the NYOS is 4 minutes (yes 4 hole minutes!) quicker !lol

Ok!

I still have another whole set of reagents for the Red Sea nitrate kit.

I do it first and set the timer for the 9 minutes. And while it’s counting down I do the Hanna phosphorus ulr and alk.

I get all 3 done in the 9 minutes.

I can’t mess up my routine! I’m already confused enough!

Lol!

I know, that’s exactly how I always did it, quickly doing the others while the nitrate finishes! I now get all my 3 Nitrate phosphate and alkalinity done in 5 minutes (in that order!)

Have you labelled the Hanna checker boxes up on the outside so you know which is which or do you always open the wrong one and think, I must label those up! And then forget! Lol

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
