I got a hitchhiking mantis on some live rock. I actually saw her and fed her several times off a bamboo skewer. Never saw the obvious broken shells of CUC. And now I haven't seen her in well over a month.

Most tanks you can listen for snapping BUT I already had a snapping shrimp in the tank. I do hear periodic snapping. It doesn't seem as loud as when I knew the mantis was around.

Does anyone have a mantis go into hiding this long? Did she move on to that great reef in the sky?

Shrimp are tricky. I don't have a mantis. But I have several other various shrimp. My coral banded once went unseen for months... Then one night I was near the tank when lights were off and he was out and about. Hard to tell!
