@Butuz Wow that anemone at the top is baking at 600 PAR. Can't believe it !!! Come to think of it they're a fairly shallow water creature and get caught in tide pools regularly where they can survive the blazing sun !!!

Exactly! I think it would even go for higher PAR. The bubble tips are resting on top of the water, also catching food that floats by. Neat. Btw, I measured PAR from a natural sunlight outside in early morning, pushes 1,100 easily. Thats before the full afternoon blaze.

I seem to be challenged on replying.

What value does the UV provide? Haven't been able to find the details on it.

In summary, UV helps with photosynthesis and brings up fluorescence in corals. Important to have this present. Here is a link that describes more on this subject:

Guys, need your advice. All my corals are doing well (sps, monti, soft, torch, etc), but I just noticed something strange with my JF Solar Flare (got him about a month or so ago). My other sps are encrusting really well at the base, but this guy was tucked away, so I didn’t notice that its base is thinning, looks oike its dead (but its not bleached or white). The top of the frag has great color and constant polyp extension. What may be causing this? Should I just cut the healthy top and reglue on a plug?

Couple of updated pics, guys. Did some shopping at Houston’s Reef Currents last weekend, bought some cool stuff from Jason Foxx, WWC and others. With the exception of a watermelon chalice, everything else is doing well. The chalice is fully retracted, I can see its ribbed white skeleton. Moved him to a semi-shaded area, will see if he recovers. But, I am so happy with dosing AF Comp 1,2,3 and getting rid of mixing Kalk into ATO. Was getting clogged every few mos. now, I can top off the ATO anytime I want, and most importantly, my wife can do so if I am travelling.

Wow....your tank is AMAZING! I do remember looking at part of your build thread now...because of the way you painted stuff black and red.

Minor tinkering guys. Due to constant travel, wanted the fish to have a variety. The current Eheim feeder has a mix of 3 types of pellets and 2 types of flakes, but I can’t put dried mysis, since the large opening will dump tons of pellets. So I bought this new Zacro feeder. To be honest, I am super impressed. Best $20 I have spent on the tank. Way better than Eheim. Here is a link:

Zacro Automatic Fish Feeder - Rechargeable Timer Fish Feeder with USB Charger Cable, Fish Food Dispenser for Aquarium or Fish Tank

I mounted it on a AI Hydra mount (it can be mounted 20 different ways, on a swivel, clamp, vertical, horizontal etc). I also made this feeder ring to make sure mysis dont get sucked into overflow right away. Just using dosing line (insert smaller diameter into a large one to connect). And, mysis are small enough to fall through the net I have over the tank. Works great.

Happy.

Do you have any issues with the Eheim for pellets/flake? I was planning on getting one. Seems to be the go to standalone feeder. Now im wondering about other options...

Nope, Eheim works like a champ. However, I really like the new Zacro feeder above. Very versatile in terms of mounting options, leaves Eheim in the dust on that front. Also, USB rechargeable batteries.

I had that eheim and it was very dependable and easy to program
