I don’t get any pop unless the leds are blue. With MH and even T5 you could add tons of actinic with crisp white and get tons of pop without visible blue.

I really am not a fan of LED fan, other than their versatility with regard to ramping up and down, not burning my elbows and not worry about splashing them or changing bulbs. To a minor extent a high voltage high temp point source eliminated is comforting as well.

i like not having to cool my tank and not having pay the electric bill. But it seems the worst thing about LEDs for me is having too many choices and too much control. I used to just have to decide radium or Ushio.

Do the Mitras put out a lot of heat or is it just the fact you are running nearly 600w of lighting? Or is it just hot where you live? I thought chillers went away with halides.

A watt is a watt. All of these fixture are similar in wattage. Yes, the Mitras aluminum housings get hot at high output. There are 6 pucks worth of LEDs to shed head from. I am not sure if the UNO body itself gets hot, but the heat has to go somewhere.

In my case, there are 3 Mitras in a confined space. Had no issue with the gen 2 radions, but they were 140 W running at maybe 70% and the Mitras are 190 W running at full tilt. FWIW - I only had 300W of halide and an actinic T5 at what… 54?

I like that while I run a pretty heavy blue spectrum for most of the day I have a ramp up peak of somewhere in the 12000-14000k for 6 hrs with the reefi. I still get a ton of fluorescence during the whitest part. Pics look blue or purple no matter what I do though I am sure its my fault or my choice of pic taking device. I like the way it looks in person and the corals are growing so they must be ok with it too.

In the other forum he basically said both are good for different reasons. Wouldn’t choose one over the other.

Reefi is simpler setup,and much cleaner look. The initial programing is a little different but still easier than GHL. GHL is overly complicated you'll have extra wires and a control box that never stays connected to the internet. My Reefi is father away from the router and enclosed in a canopy and never looses connection. GHL box is out in the open and closer and always looses connection, very frustrating. I moved it all around with no improvement. The GHL box can do other things and gives you room for expansion but most people already have a apex or hydros.

The Reefi is way more powerful than the GHLs. I don't know how they do it unless there fibbing about the wattage lol These things are strong! I cant remember the numbers excatley but there about 10-12 inches above the water and at like 38 percent they hitting 700 par 10 inches below the water and around 300 on the sand in a 30 inch tall tank.
