Looking at these for my 270, 72 x 36 x 24. Curious how many would be needed. How good is the coverage? 36"x 24" as advertised??

What corals are you looking to grow?

I have one centered above a 24"x 16" x 16" tank (mounted normally ... e.g. light display facing forward). I can grow SPS well at the edges of my tank mid-water-column or higher. That said, if my tank were 36" long, I do not believe I'd be able to grow SPS well at the edges.

On a 72" long tank you'd probably want at least three.

If you're planning on going heavy with SPS the full length of the tank you may even want to bump it up to four at some point.

Are you looking to do a sps dominate, lps? Both?

I have 3 on my 72x18x24 tank and the coverage is great I would agree with the poster above start with 3 but if your going to be a sps dominate tank 4.

I agree with 3. I have 2 over a 48" tank, 30 inches deep. I get plenty of coverage. Great lights!
