Mixed Reef Corals Suddenly Declining

I'm not sure whether that is reassuring or even more worrisome...

don't try to many things to solve it or could get worse.

So should I stop doing additional water changes and leave things be, or do you just mean don't do anything crazy?

I'm saying you can do some additional water changes but don't do anything crazy. Sorry wish I could tell you buy this snake oil and everything will be fixed. Usually after I have an issue it takes 3 months to rebound. Unless it was caused by something obvious that I was able to fix quickly.

I knew that going into this, but I'm having just as many issues with my chalice, my zoas, and my bta.

I did the whole par thing when I first set up the tank and I haven't changed the settings since then. I don't own a par meter but I borrowed one from a friend before I moved and I know the PAR isn't quite what acros would want but it is sufficient for what I have and plan to keep. I believe it was just over 200 at the top center where I placed the montipora. The spot the stylopora used to be in the front right corner of the scape was around 180 par. The zoas were in an area with like 90-100 par but they never showed signs of wanting more light.

Well then I'm sure you know 6 month tanks are unstable. Corals decline from the inside and it can take weeks or months before they show the outward signs of decline . Perhaps your biome just isn't balanced enough yet with stability in good parameters areas combined with the fact nano tanks can go south fast if something is off. I routinely lost corals between 4 and 8 months until my tank got more stable and my biome more mature.

As to the water changes, it seems the problems are escalating as the water changes are increased. Perhaps unlikely, but I worry the lfs water is the cause, not a help.

I think I found the cause. I caught this guy eating flesh off of my candycane coral. I've never seen him before, but I decided to look with the lights off. I dont know why he just now started to be a menace because he must have came with my initial live rock.
