Can you have a male Ruby Red and females of the green, red, and spotted mandarins? Or do they all have to be the same species? Will they still attack each other? Thanks.

Not aware of any aggression issue with them. Males may spar with each other. The thing is enough copepods for multiples. Would have to be a mature large system to support them. Tough one.

I did some research on this a while back after I got my target mandarin. The conclusion I determined was if the tank is big enough with a mature refugium and steady pod population it is possible. But there is always the chance they will fight unless they are a bonded pair. In the end I decided to just keep my single target mandarin in there. I have a Red Sea reefer 650 so 130 gallon display. It had a healthy pod population at the time and was mature so I got the one mandarin. I’m pretty sure my system could easily handle two but I decided not to risk the potential fighting.

IF YOU HAD TO OPERATE EVERYTHING ELSE MANUALLY, WHICH AUTOMATED SYSTEM WOULD YOU KEEP?
