I built a mixing station with two 65-gallon tall storage tanks. It’s plumbed with valves and an external pump that can move RO water to the saltwater side or pump either type of water to the tank. The saltwater side is set up so the pump can run continuously to cycle and mix the saltwater.

I plan to use a Python water-change hose (since I already have one) to pump water to the tank when refilling the ATO or doing a water change.

Here’s my question: Can I put a valve or sprayer on the end of the Python hose like you would with a garden hose? Would that create too much back-pressure for the pump?

The reason I ask is my wife would like to use the hose to get RO water for her plants. She doesn’t need a sprayer—just a way to turn the hose on and off at various spots around the house to fill jugs and water large plants. Right now she goes to the tank and uses a gravity-fed valve I installed for filling buckets.

I was thinking that if I added a way for the RO side to “cycle” like the saltwater side, I could leave that valve partially open to maintain some flow. That should allow the hose to be turned on and off without damaging the pump.

I hope my question makes sense.

So I’m assuming not a lot of advice on this one?

thats a waste of ro, plants can use the ro waste. i would add a a tank for waste for the plants and they sell pumps that cycle on and off when not in use, or maybe plumb in a preasure switch.
