Mixing TSP and storing

Hey all,

I'm looking to mix up some Trisodium Phosphage (Loudwolf) to dose PO4. I don't have a DOS free to automate this, so I'm looking to dose about 4ml of fluid to elevate .04.


I've read that mixing 1.88g with 1L water will yield a 1mL to .01 raise in a 100L tank.

I'm assuming that if I want 341L (90.08 gal which is close enough). I multiply 1.88 x 3.41 and get 6.41g per 1L.

That should mean I can use 1mL of solution to raise PO4 by .01 in my 90g tank.

Is that maths accurate?

PS Can I store this in a "United Scientific® Unistore™ 33310EA | Laboratory Grade Polypropylene Wide Mouth Reagent Bottle"? I don't know how reactive this solution is and what's ideal here.

Just dosed 4mL in there, gave it 30 minutes to circulate... still at 0.00. In theory, it should be measurable...unless my math is WAY off.

I can't help with the math but I've been using the same TSP and store it in a canning jar with lid. Been doing it that way for a couple of years with no problems.

Sounds like you still have rock/sand adsorbing PO4 out of the water, might wanna double up on your dosage amount until you start seeing something above 0.0.

Yes, it may take huge amounts to finally offset the binding to rock and sand.

Think that was it. I added another 8mL to take it to .08 and only ended up with .05. Will be adding more in the AM and monitoring! Thanks!
