Thanks for your help with my issue; I just ran the tests. Alk is 8.1 (previously 7.7), Ca is 460 (previously 470), and Mg has dropped from 1460 to 1380. NO3 is 35, PO4 is 0.09, and salinity is 1.025. I am dosing only Modern Reef KH-1 (60 ml) and KH-2 (60 ml). I perform a 15–20% water change every week using Modern Reef salt.

Ok. Your tanks dosnt consum much of Alkalinity. What i would do is i would drop the daily dosage of Dkh1 and dkh2 to 40ml a day and match that with the other parts( 40 ml CA and 40ml Mg).

I would slow down on doing water changes from 1 week to every other week.

Try that for a week and let me know how things go.

Thank you very much, I'll do just that.

Hi, sorry I missed this thread. The best way to reach us is via our 24/7 WhatsApp support: +49 175 9627777.

First, please check your dosing pump calibration. Make sure you calibrate it using the actual liquid you are dosing, not osmosis water, as that would give an inaccurate calibration. Also check if BASE KH1 and KH2 are solidified; this can happen during transit/shipping in extremely low temperatures.

Also, keep an eye on evaporation. If you refill with too much liquid and it lasts for more than a month, this may cause an uneven evaporation rate between the liquids. We recommend refilling for a maximum of one month of use. Some customers refill weekly of by weekly, but the main idea is not to keep the liquid in use for more than one month.

If you need to balance the system, it is flexible and also allows you to use it 2 by 2. That is why you see 2 white caps and 2 red caps.

For example, if calcium is high and you have been using Modern Reef for a long time, simply lower Base Cal by 50% until calcium is around 400–410 ppm. Do not push calcium or KH above the recommended levels with other products or with the system. If your values are within the recommended range, then everything is fine.

Also, avoid third-party products that may contain KH or calcium.

If you still need help, feel free to drop a chat on WhatsApp.

Good afternoon, fellow MODERN REEF users. I’m completely confused—I don’t understand what’s going on. I stopped dosing entirely to lower my Ca and Mg levels; I had been manually adding 40 ml each of KH1 and KH2. My KH stabilized at 7.7, which is exactly the level I want. For the past four days, I haven't added any KH1 or KH2 because the KH has remained steady at 7.7; however, while the calcium level isn't dropping, the magnesium has decreased slightly. I don't understand where the corals are getting their nutrients, as I’m not adding anything. I performed a 15% water change a week ago using MODERN REEF salt. My tank is a Waterbox Infinia 230.6. Here are the parameters from 10 minutes ago: Alk 7.7, Ca 480, Mg 1390, NO3 45.5, PO4 0.09.

Any updates on this? Wanted to do this and switching soon. When new bottles come out I’ll be doing the switch. Using captiv8 currently.

I have been using modern reef since it came to the auS and I love it.
Very simple to follow and saves me a lot of time. Switched from kalk and reefmoonshiners and not looking back.

Figure out your daily conception in 24 hours with whatever méthode you are runing right now especially the KH and the dose equal parts for all 4.

It worked very well for me.

To be honest. Based on your tank biology I would use the blue version instead of 7.7.
The CA and Mg will naturally drop if you stop dosing them. I would stop dosing everything all together for at least 24h and test again to know your real tank conception for kh , ca, mg.

I did moonshine and I got too busy and switched to captiv8 now I’m looking into modern reef. I heard great things and icp tests are a ton cheaper.
