A gas station down the street here has pickles soaking in a big jar of red coolaid. He claims that it's a traditional "southern thing". Now this guy is not from the south, in fact he's not from america (i asked) So, what i want to know is... "who the heck told him that?" and also, who the heck is buying these nasty pickles? Being a born and bred texan who spent half her life in Lousiana I have NEVER seen that before. Yuk.
There's a pickle place over there off 30, that sells them like that. See if I can find a link

I tried some of the pickle shack pickles at Zestfest a couple years ago. They were good. Don't think I tried their kool-aid version but I remember seeing it...

I'm currently living in Monroe, so right in the middle of that. Both of those towns are superior to Monroe IMHO.

Ruston was ok. It's a big party town with the students. I got in my fair share of trouble there. Pineville is nice but boring.... at least when i lived there it was. I once saw 6 cop cars go screeching into the macdonalds parking lot with sirens on. They all ran in with guns drawn. They came out 15 minutes later at a leisurely stroll with happy meals. I kid you not. They were bored and hungry!

Is Monroe really that bad?

It's the most horrible city in Louisiana, hands down. Everywhere you go it smells like poop because of the huge paper mill here. And that's not even the worst of it! Wife & I are actively plotting our escape. ;)
