I got a skunk cleaner shrimp yesterday, drip accumulated him, next morning there was nothing but shells where he was hiding, I thought maybe a moult but it’s been over a day now, only thing I can think of is my molly miller killed him, all tank test came out perfect, tank is 1.5 years old. 40G
I have
2 clowns
Molly miller
Royal gamma
Cleanup crew of snails and hermit crabs, and emerald crab.

Doubtful, I'd lean more toward a Molt and he is in hiding till he feels comfortable.

Molly Miller blenny Diet

S. cristata exerts an unlimited effect on the trophodynamics of the habitats during which it happens.

It feeds closely on epilithic (particularly filamentous) algae; nonetheless, it’s best considered an omnivore, quite than an herbivore, given that in the middle of grazing it ingests a really large number of objects included within the epilithic algal matrix (e.g., detritus and microorganisms).

Additional, it might goal sure small sessile invertebrates (e.g., Aiptasia spp. anemones).

It has even been noticed feeding on fish carrion. In a single intestine content material evaluation, 41 totally different meal objects may very well be recognized.

S. cristata feeds primarily through the day. Its feeding exercise will increase steadily all through the morning hours, leveling off within the early afternoon, after which sharply reducing till cessation at nightfall.

Chunk frequency rises and falls with temperature.

Season and site have been discovered to affect its food regimen and feeding patterns, indicating an excessive stage of trophic versatility.

Diet of topics examined in a single research different, relying upon site and time of yr, from 25-55% algae and from 35-62% detritus.

IME molly miller is a possessed demon fish, it lasted only a week in my tank before I pulled it out, it was bullying every fish in my tank and eating my rock flowers, pushing corals over..... it was a horrible fish experience for me.

I haven’t had him touch my rock flower! But snails and fish he’s constantly chasing away from food or knocking snails over and picking on them! Definitely has an attitude!

They eat snails? What else do they eat that is small and that people typically have in their tank? I'm looking for aptasia control (repeated berghia and peppermint shrimp attempts already failed), doing the least harm to an otherwise established and balanced community tank. I'm weighing the blenny against milletseed butterfly and Australian stripey. I've already ruled out filefish (inevitably destined to nip on clam and corals) and CBB (unlikely to compete with established tangs or otherwise survive). Any thoughts will be most appreciated.

I've never had one in my tank but I have heard enough to know I dont want one. They are not the cute little docile fish everyone thinks they are.
