Hi, My 45 gallon tank just turned 6 Months old. I have kept all parameters in check - Alkalinity, calcium and Mg controlled by DOS and trident are always in the range. Keeping up with weekly 10% water changes. Nitrates (0-20ppm) and Phosphates (0-15 ppb) swing but are low. My latest problem is hair algae which is showing up in some places. All LPS are growing and dividing. Even a hurt coral due to my stupidity (accidentally crushed a torch skeleton) is recovering and rebuilding. This is giving me the confidence to try Monti. However I know SPS is super hard and my tank is not mature. So the advice I seek is, should I try Monti now or should I wait for some more time ? I know patience pays off in this hobby :)

Montis aren't nearly as fussy as some other SPS. If you can find something relatively cheap, so you won't be heartbroken if it dies, it's worth a shot!

How mature your tank is depends in part on what it was started with. Dry rock? Bin-grown live rock? Ocean live rock?

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
