I snapped some of my montipora by accident. The snapped branches are currently laying on there side on the rock. Will these atatch and start growing upwards as they are?

Theyre not stuck down. Will they grip the rock on there own?

sometimes yes. they need chemical signals to encrust.
what those are only they know, but coraline is one.

If they don't get knocked around It might stick.
Me having turbos and an urchin, I just started putting a dab of glue on them and sticking them in holes.

If nothing moves it around it will encrust but I suggest a little dab of glue. Most of the time hermits, snails and shrimp move things around

Whenever I accidentally snap a piece off a branching monti like that, I try and glue it down somewhere near the original specimen. I figure maybe I can fake my way to a colony that way. :D
