I was doing my routine feed for my duncan when I noticed some detritus sitting on my red plating monti. I blew it off with my pipette but the red flesh started coming off in bits? Its a newly fragged piece, the pale edge in the back was 100% covered before I fragged. Does anyone know what's going on, or what I can do?

You got it as a newly fragged piece or you recently cut pieces off of it?
Also post your parameters and a full tank shot please :)

Ah, nevermind, I see your previous post, you fragged it :)
Yea, post tank parameters please :)

Sorry this took so long! I had to read how to do my new tesk kit.

Phosphate: 0.45 ppm
pH: 8.1
Salinity: 29.5
Temp: 25.7°C
Alkalinity: 9.5 dKH
Magnesium: ~1560 ppm
Calcium: 400 ppm
Nitrite: 0.22 ppm
Nitrate: 0.0 ppm
Ammonia: 0.05 ppm

You might want to try the tests again lol, those numbers look out of whack

Really high phosphate combined with zero nitrate is a bad combination.

If nitrate is true zero, you need to dose that up to say 5ppm and the excessive phosphate reduced slowly with GFO to say .1ppm….then hold steady.

In addition, salinity is way off at 29.5 ppt, should be 35ppt, and this might put everything out of whack.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm sorry I didn’t post this sooner, but my tests were waaaay off, and when I re-did them I got healthy parameters. Also, I had a friend come over and look, and they said that the dead parts that came off were likely that way for a while. My monti had sort of grown on top of itself, and that part was trapped with poor lighting and minimal flow. I am happy to announce that it has been making a smooth recovery! Thank you again for your help!
