I was in Hollywood on Sunday, at Lemmy's lounge and patio memorial, was it the Rainbow Room?, or Paradise?, or something like that? I had a cocktail and got to stare at his life sized statue, and it was kind of sad to see it knowing that a living Lemmy would be so much more animated and available for conversation. Tourists from England dropped by while I pondered all of that. It would seem that God has the last word for all of us no matter how we might carry on here as if it were not so.

the rainbow bar and grill. he spent a lot of time there. a lot. i used to live off sunset strip and got to hang out with him many times.

so close to seeing Motorhead, they had to cancel because of lemmy's health. replaced with Anthrax who was on tour with motorhead at the time. that was two years before he rode the mighty bass wave in the sky.

I grew up in Redondo beach, about 30-40 minutes from Hollywood, and that was where we hung out many nights, Rainbow, Gazzari's, Troubador, Whiskey.
I got to see a ton of bands get their start there back in the 80's, and a lot of regulars, and Lemmy was at the Rainbow all the time.

Got to hang out and party w/ a number of bands one night back stage after Alice Cooper show, including Lemmy, who certainly was a character.

Something was said about that joke, " You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friend's nose" led to a "sure you can" memorable moment!

when was that show?

I have to think about it, it was when Axl Rose sang under my wheels and he came on w/ Alice, got to hang w/ him too, not long after Appetite for destruction came out.
I still have the backstage pass somewhere.

Motorhead opened, this was at Long Beach.
I saw a girl getting trampled in the mosh pit and picked her up, let her stand in front of me at the barrier, and later she thanked me by slapping a backstage pass on my leg.

I got to hang out w/ a ton of 80's metal bands w/ open bar and food till 4am w/ bands like Kiss, Metallica, GnR, many others.
Best back stage party ever!

Around 87-88

I saw Axl just standing by himself and no one seemed to notice or really knew who he was yet, but I already had and loved Appetite so I just walked over and hung out and talked to him for a while.
He was actually pretty cool back then.

Yep!
Faster Pussycat was another of my favorites, that was a great show!

It's kinda funny, I know you are/were a photographer and that was my main focus back in the day.
Alice Cooper had a place in Palos Verdes near me as well, and we used to drive up there to try to spot him, don't think we ever saw him come out.
