I need to move my biocube tomorrow, and I don't know if anyone has any advice on how to do it. I was gonna pick up some 5-gallon buckets from lowes for the live rocks and bag the fish, but should I just empty out all the water and refill it from scratch when I get to my destination or should I put the water in 5-gallon lidded buckets? Worried that the buckets won't be clean enough and that they would have chemical residue. What should I do?

When I moved a tank I used a cooler filled with %60 of the origanol tank water then put in a battery powered air stone and cranked up my cars heater to 78 and dumped in the fish rock and coral. It is much easier to use one larger container than a bunch of buckets.

Taking water with you is a good idea. I usually tried to take at least 1/2 of the tank to avoid making all that water at the new stop. Just be sure it is not to heavy.:D Your plan looks solid. I am not sure about the buckets, but I have used Lowe’s buckets before. Just wash them out with vinegar, no issues

Using 4 Lowe’s blue bucket myself for 5 months without issue. Didn’t even vinegar bathed it. Just rinsed with tap, then rinse again with rodi and paper towel dried it. Even used it as a quick QT tank for tank transfer method .

Haha thank you all for the help! I will make sure to bring most of the water then! Would a vinegar wash raise the pH by too much?

Welcome Eliza, How far is the move? Try not to bag the fish it will stress them .A bucket will be fine.
Try to take as much old water as possible. Do You already have a spot at the new place?
A move is a pain for sure. Good luck & please let us know hoe it goes for Ya ! :)
