hello im looking to purchase Mp10 but my side glass is 10mm does anyone have experience running a Mp10 on 10mm glass? my tank is a 45gal cube basically so I would be worried about a sand storm if I upgraded to a MP40. Yes I know their a lot of different pump options but I would like a mp for the ascetic purpose thanks.

You can run an MP10 or MP40 on 10mm no problem. The pumps include spacers. I have 2 mp10s and 1 mp40 on a 200L / 42g display with 10mm glass and its just fine.

As far as the sandstorm, it depends on the positioning and intensity you run the pumps at. You'll likely need to run the 40 on an extremely low setting

I believe so there isn't too much pressure from the magnet on the glass. But I could be wrong.

Would this be enough power for SPS? TIA as I’m researching myself.

I'm using an MP10 on 12mm glass and I'd say thats probably the maximum I'd go. If you bump it while cleaning the glass you can jar it loose at this thickness.

gotcha so you run your mp10 without the spacer?
I run one on a 14g with 6mm glass no spaces, you definitely don’t need the spaces on 10.

I use a 3d printed flow deflector on it, this stops the flow from shooting right across the other side of the tank and kicking up the sand, I can point the flow where I want it to go.

Also keep in mind if you go lower than around 30% power you can’t use the different modes, the pump with be on constant.

First off THANKYOU Reef2reef for having a great search option as I basically had the same question as this thread. Ecotech documents that the maximum glass thickness for the MP10 is 9.5 mm. My tank has 10mm glass and was concerned the MP10 would not work but I see others have used it on 10mm and even 12 mm. Granted I can dial down a MP40, but bigger is not always better. My wife tells me that also!
