Mp40 on Apex EB832?

Do you plug your MP40 into your Apex? I guess mine is the newer style and can only be controlled through the Mobius app. I want to be able to turn it off via the Apex's feed mode, but I thought I read somewhere not to plug into to the apex.

Can anyone confirm if this is OK to to?

I plug my vortechs into the tanks that use apex or hydros just fine.
They won't control the functions such as ramping up or down but they will certainly turn them off in the desired modes/settings/times
