So I flipped over this rather large mother colony of watermelon shrooms and the back of the rock was covered in a slimy gray goo. It reminded me of that game "World of Goo". I saw the same substance on some other base rocks. On the other rocks, there was also a small amount of sponge, which was a bit surprising. Any ID on the mushroom goo?

It’s sponge. I have similar goo in my tank. It will slowly grow and spread.
I scraped what I could of it off another rock. (Outside of the tank in the sink...) I always thought sponge was good - filter feeder - but apparently some can be toxic and not so good. I've been thinking of fragging off some of those monster watermelon shrooms anyway, so I guess it's a good time to attack that sponge.
