I think I overshot alk - should be increasing slowly, max 1.5dKH per day and I got to 2’sh per day. Hopefully things will be fine — so far, nobody felt anything! lol

Update - this 150gal Kitchen Cube has been neglected since we’ve been busy in the fish room with the other 3 tanks. Now those tanks are automated and stable, it’s time to show some love in the kitchen.

After nearly 5 years without a WC, we’ve decided to reset the tank since the corals were growing like weeds and strangling each other.

Nitrate is in the stratosphere at 100ppm+ so softies are loving life! I’ve added more Zoas and mushrooms. However, we’re going to bring it down to earth for SPS to grow later.

I’ve set up another denitrator (old school Korallin CaRx) with a Kamoer running at 3mls/min. Nitrate should be under 10ppm in a month!

Nitrate still not down yet - still 75ppm+. However, I’ve put some test SPS frags back in and they’re doing great!

So far, the Chicago nem loves high nutrients… ;)

Latest params - nitrate is slowly coming down. The LPS corals are loving life though.

Mushrooms are splitting like crazy: 1 became 3 last week and looks like another one is splitting into 3 —finally seeing growth after the rescape.

Just got a Versa and hooked up for carbon dosing, hoping to drive down nitrate from 60ppm while boosting an army of good bacteria! :)

Fun weekend - just hooked up an Avast K2 kalk stirrer for the 150gal. Now all 3 tanks got a CaRx, supplemented by kalk. Will need to keep an eye on alkalinity for the next several weeks. I’m hoping to have these acros take off…

Carbon dosing produced really nasty stuff in the skimmer cup! Let’s hope nitrate will come down in a few weeks…I’m going back to carbon dosing since it’s super easy to tune with the Versa pump.
