My 40 gallon recife build

My scooter blenny made an appearance! Also, the GSP rock is trying to pretend it's a plate so.it doesn't get replaced with a plate...
I’ve been having trouble viewing uploaded videos on my phone today here, on R2R. I cannot see this one and couldn’t watch several that were posted in the smorgasbord room either. It’s a bummer because I know they are all good ones based on pics of the tanks I’ve seen. Thinking it must be a setting on my phone. I’ll have to view them all on my desktop now.

I honestly haven't, but I've thought about this recently. Do a water change, take a picture. Up or lower flow, do a before and after. I tinkered with my lighting recently, and have had great results. I wish I had photo doc'd that.

I hear so many folks say that they swear by a certain product or method, well show me!

I'm sure I have some shots from today/yesterday. Ill try that tomorrow.
Thanks for the push.

Chris, reef2reef has been sluggish and off all day for me. Pictures and videos have been hard to upload as well today.

I have also noticed that every night, at 3:00AM, I get timed out responses.

BTW - I don’t sleep like normal people. This is why I am usually up around 3:00AM. What’s your excuse?

Also not normal.

Lol, not a good one. I work 7-3 every day, and "choose" not to sleep on off days/ever.
That was no excuse at all was it?

Some of my favorite corals are my "meat" corals, the aliens. They are a Warpaint scoly, 2 Cynarina, a large wellsophyllia and two fat plates that think they're pillows.
I will feature these as "easy" corals. There's nothing easy about this hobby, but if you can keep any LPS, you can keep these.

This is an easy one, because you can almost put it in the dark, and as long as you feed it, the coral will survive and possibly thrive.

My approach is a mixed bag. I believe that a decent par of around 80-100 is perfect for these. It seems that they benefit from what some would consider a higher P04.
My phosphates run .1-.2 like a clock. It helps that I dont keep high end acros, or have an algae issue, so it's ok if my tank lives here. These corals get spot feed 3 or 4 times a month, but benefit from any frozen food or pellets that I add to the tank because I have a mid intensity cross flow down on the sandbed to carry food across the corals.

I just wanted to showcase the aliens because they are an easily kept coral that adds a big splash to the tank.

Hey man... gentle reminder to phot doc your own thread.

BTW - what's the blenny's name?

You're 100 right! Every month or so, I remember that my build thread exists lol.

My 4 year old calls the scooter blenny, UFO. I have no clue why, but he's my boy, so he's prone to quirkiness. So he is UFO officially!

He loves his white worms, and chilling in the wellsophyllia. It's crazy, the coral doesn't budge when he lays in there. It's almost symbiotic, but I don't know what either one would offer the other. Here's a shot of him in it.

Well, I'm getting closer to that psychedelic sunset I wanted my tank to be!

Good morning!

Nice tank update and happy to hear it's going well.

A part of the top pic looked like a dragon with a pink mane or, at least, that's what my imagination told me. Kinda fits into the psychedelic theme you're shooting for too.

Joe ( I think I remember it being your name), I don’t know if you remember me but we’ve crossed paths a couple times on R2R just wanted to convey that your tank is this.

If Missouri wasn’t so far away I’d wash your mouth with soap!

And of course we have to have a song!

Is it Sweet Lips? It should totally be Sweet Lips. Unless there's a Banana Lips song, then it should be that.
