John there is no way this thing is real!! AMAZING! Your fungias truly show off. Any idea what PAR this thing is getting? I feel like mine only thirves in the darkest spot of my tank which is why I rarely see it, and it definitely not half as pretty as yours haha

Lol That is Sweet Lips. She is an alien Muppet.

My plates are in an even 100 par. It is my belief that they like a little more par than a lot of people think. If you dont feed them directly twice a week, put them somewhere that they will consistently collect some food from your basic tank feedings.

Another thing that has to be considered is that they are very active corals and will put themselves where they want to be. The movement wont be drastic, but if the plate continues to inflated and drifts around, it's not happy where it is. I finally just had to give sweet lips that entire corner.

If it's mounted on a frag plug or rock, it can't move to an ideal spot, so you'll have to do that for it.

I have a few corals coming tomorrow, and a few more next week. My wife may have "stolen" my black sun corals. Ok, I kind of offered them to her for her tank.

Im really excited about this frag!

It's a monti maricultured by the late Jake Adams to achieve unique coloration and an odd branching/plating/encrusting growth pettern. Im going to place it in almost acro conditions, with about 200+ par and strong random flow. I really want to reproduce the coral traits that Jake was going for.

It's a toss up too, because it could've moved there for ALL the reasons. Light, flow, or feedings. I think if you begin to feed it more, and get it real fat and happy, you can probably place it more easily. As long as the flow isn't way too strong, and it's not in way too much or too little light.

Sorry CB, I just saw this. Yes! Ive only had this coral for about 2 or 3 months. It was about the size of a half dollar when I got it, and planed to put another plate or two next to it. Now she's the size of a flat baseball at her happiest!
