Unfortunately, when I went to order, BRS was out of KH buffer. Found it at Premium Aquatics for less so got what else I could from them to save a few bucks.

I drove 160 miles for my last reef salt score, since I could not find product on line.

I spoke with someone from Aquaforest, and they are working on product getting out there.

I have been looking for a smaller amount of Probiotic salt for 4 months to play around with topping off my salinity levels. I have not been able to find the salt, just in a big box.

Once you mix your own, stick with the recipe and if you have to dose to make up for example Mg, I will add to my AWC and not try change the recipe.

Have a great day.

Happy Sunday

I was looking for information on why my bio-pellet keep clumping, I could not find any definitive answer except flow. I pulled apart the reactor and still the pellets still were clumping. The light went on and I cleaned the pump. Boom, I have a nice tumble now

Screen Shot 2021-11-21 at 1.38.57 PM.png

The nitrates have come down and phosphates are zero again. I backed off the NitraPhos minus, the phosphates should come up slowly again. I am dosing 9 ml daily and was dosing 12 ml a day for 80 gal water volume. I also backed off of the alk dosing a bit. This should bring down the alk slowly.

Have a great day

Boy it is nice to look at clean tank .

I is nice to see some color also. Even the corals that I added two months ago are still alive and growing slowly.

Merry 26th of December

Numbers are looking pretty good for not testing in awhile
Screen Shot 2021-12-26 at 1.20.12 PM.png

to do list
dose up the Mg
Mix up some 1+2+3+ since I am getting low, Probably why my MG is low.

A good mild stone, of the coral that I purchased months ago, 4 of the 6 are still alive and not growing :D It has been a couple of year since I have had any success with growth.

I still have about 20 apistasia's in the DT.

I am thinking of up grading my current lights by adding the hybrid T5's and my current LED's. Aquatic life?? Reef Brite??

I am also thinking of upgrading the DT to a 24 h x 20 w x 50 long custom rim less and a new sump. With a new tank & sump, I would be sitting around 130 gallon total volume. Reason for upgrading, I am getting tired of messing with the CPR over flow, the Tom's Aqua pumps are getting hard to come by. The Toms pump keep the CPR overflow siphoning. I would like to go with a coast to coast overflow with the upgrade. The new tank would fit on my current stand.

Look like 2022 is tank upgrade year.

May I suggest getting a Euro braced tank. Although I like the look of a rimless tank, they are a PITA with water spilling and running down the glass, especially when mag cleaning the glass. My fish will also splash water and it does the same. Keeping the outside glass clean is more about wiping up salt drips than anything else.

Got a question about mixing AF Comp +, is 1+ supposed to have a brown tint to it?

One of the strong components, strong B, was brown, which gave the mix a brown tint. Just wondering if this is normal as I don't recall 1+ being that way or not.

That would be a Roger/ yes on the brown tent with component +1.

FYI, I have been running my alk lower the most at 7.6 ish. My coraline has been growing the best since I have been using Aquforest.

I am still out on the Euro brace. With the overflow I am thinking of ordering with the tank. the water line would be at least two inches below the top of the tank. I will also be making a plexiglass mesh top.

I am think about adding Aquaforest Pro bio S for a bit to help bring down the nitrates to help the NitraPhos minus and bio pellets.
When I add some probiotic reef salt to correct my salinity two weeks ago, I notice a good change.

Starting to clean the back glass today.

Have a great day.

Not testing for a month, the phosphates and nitrates crept up
Screen Shot 2022-02-13 at 1.29.46 PM.png

Action plan
I cleaned the bio pellet reactor and increase the bio pellets, there was a 1/2 cup left and the reactor was clogging up with gunk.
  • Increase the salinity a bit
  • Increase the Mg
  • Drop the alk back down to 7.5
  • Clean skimmer
  • Change the filter sock more often

I put a poll out there asking the direction I should go in with lighting. Looks like T5's and my current Hydra's

To upgrade to Hybrid t5's and LEDs or upgrade LEDs lights

The red scourge was coming back, and being busy I just add a slight amount of red slim remover to the auto water change the past two weeks, the cyano is clearing up without the drastic changes to the bio load.

Curses Batman my phosphates are up again :D
Screen Shot 2022-02-20 at 12.39.39 PM.png

On the good side, the nitrates are down slightly.
I turned up the NitraPhos minus, also broke the dose down to 4 doses instead of 2. a day. I am dosing 4 x 5ml now
I also to reduce the alk I am dosing 8 x 1 ml daily down from 8x 2.3 until the alk comes down to 7.6. You know I should give some more corals and the alk will come down quicker;)

I made a cake;Hilarious
