Well what a different a week makes

The tank is bubbling away after the nuke treatment for cyano. I have been leaving the extra aeration on a couple days have treatment as a precaution. Nice and clean :) I turned the light back on this morning.

tested this morning, here are the numbers.
Screen Shot 2020-03-19 at 10.37.26 AM.png

The phosphates are sky high, as to be expected. I am dosing Lanthanum now to cut the phosphates by half. I will dose again Saturday and one more time Tuesday.

The alk is also dropping, The Mg change a bunch, most likely due to the cyano treatment.

Since move the air line my Ph swings are less

Now to steady out the parameters and let the system settle in for 30 days and also balance out the nutrients.

Have a good one;Joyful

Your looking for something quiter than the dos and mine is still brand new in the box needing hooked up. I'm lagging behind! I start working from home starting tomorrow, hopefully I cant start devoting more time on mine.

I ordered the GHL Maxi. Now to figure how to set the Maxi up.

I have heard the Maxi run, almost silent.

The DOS has worked great, and the software is simple to use. O just cannot get over the loudness of the unit. I will keep the DOS if and when I find a clean source of clean sea water.

Phosphates are slowly dropping with Lanthanum Chloride treatments. I have been doing a slow drip every other day starting on the 3/22. The Hanna registered a blinking 200, if figured that my reading was off the scale for the utl phosphorus reeder. I figured I would enter the 200 or .61 and go from there. As you see below I am at .21 today, and treating again.
Screen Shot 2020-03-25 at 5.13.13 PM.png

Alk is slowly dropping also, since I stopped dosing alk or +2.

The new losers will be here Tuesday. ;Joyful

Any of you guy ever do a AWC with just the GHL Maxi? I would like to only do the water change Monday through Friday?

You might be better off asking the GHL question in a stand alone post. Surely you will get more eyes on it and might hit a homerun.

Sump closet pic!!

Wow what a difference in noise with the GHL Maxi, much less than the DOS. I can actually sit in the room and have a conversation on the phone.

I have some more silicone tubing coming next week, and I will clean up the line going to the Maxi

Looks great! Almost sickening! :p In a great sickening kind of way. Mine looks like a scene off of hoarders!

I have to clean up all the tubing and the wiring, looks like a hurricane hit it ;)

Tomorrow is testing day to see where I am at.

I am going to bring down the phosphate more and the nitrates are slowly coming up.

I think I will give the system another two to three weeks, then I will start looking for corals on my list to start adding.

O my, I just notice more life in the system. The sponges and tube worms are coming back. I have not seen this in a long time.

I little quality control on board today, and I still had to redo two tests;Jawdrop;Hilarious

My number are looking much better.
Screen Shot 2020-04-10 at 2.11.43 PM.png

I started running GFO Yesterday and I will dose once more on the Lanthanum Chloride. I should be almost there with the phosphate. Next will be to keep them balanced for two weeks.

Bought some filter for the camera.

3 and 8 are about the truest color, Maybe I will combine a couple of colors to experiment. 8 is just a UV filter

I like what you've got going on with the branch rock. getting some ideas here.

Thank you, when one could get Tonga stick rock, that is all I would have in may scape. :) Having a do over for this system, I would have found more branch rock and incorporated in to this present scape. That will be for system #2

Alk is down, I am dosing up to a 7.8. and lets see what the alk will settle in at. I also added more salt to bring up the salinity . This weeks goal is to get the phosphate finally down and starve out the GHA along with dosing H2O2 to weaken the GHA

A couple of tank shoots with a light orange and UV for the first two and just the UV for the seconded two

We got out yesterday and went to Sebastian's inlet FL. Nice drive and killed a bug of love bugs, had to scrub those guys off the car before they started eating into the paint on the car. ;)

I pulled a sample of water
salinity 37
Po4 0
No3 1
Alk 7.5
Cal 386
Mg 1440
Interesting
I also discovered Sea Grapes as I was looking for Red Mangroves pods. I will have to go to the Canaveral National Seashore Park were I found the pods last, when the national parks open back up. A least it will be another adventure.

I ran my number with the same test kits, and testing both ocean water and system water in succession.

I need to adjust the salinity and my numbers will change. Still working on the phosphates but they are down. Time to change the GFO and add some salt. I will test again Wednesday to see were we are at.

Charlie alway has to be on top of things

New addition to the system.
Got a sea hare to mow down the algae and a few red leg hermits, alone with a Mexican turbo.

Pete (aka the sea hare) has his work cut out for him. From what I am reading and was told, Pete should cleans things up.
I also add three corals.
Tyree pink lemonade, JF Fox Flame, and a sunset monti.
