Well, got her home yesterday around noon.

20190514_135815.jpeg

Even came with a sump and pump but i don't think I'm going to use the sump. It is covered in some white stuff guy said he fixed a leak with. So I'll probably go with my moded 10 gal till i can manage something better.

I should of looked her over better as there are a few flaws. The acrylic is all scratched up, but is fixable with some elbow grease. The overflow didn't pass the first leak test. But that appears as to be a simple fix, once i finish cutting away the silicone. Probably just need to put new seals in or replace the bulkhead flange. (p.s. this is my first drilled tank!!! No more pvc overflow!!!)

Welp, let's see if i can get this thing holding water today...

After closer inspection, it appears that the gasket isn't seated properly. Sticking out +1\8" side opposite the leak. Now if i can only find some channel locks big enough to remedy this issue.

Welp, its moving day!!! The tanks are less than 2° apart, parameters are the same and i can't wait!!!

This is my biggest tank yet, 75 gal was my previous so not by much. But with my plans for a macro garden tank and larger custom sump, it will have some water volume...

So today will be plumbing in my macro display tank. Well, not my final macro display, but a 10 gallon that will act as such till i either find or build the final tank.

10.5"H X 16"W X 48"L or somewhere around there... Might even go 72", got the room for it. Final tank till also be drilled so the pvc overflow is only till i achieve the tank I'm looking for...

I tell people this all the time when they mention buying equipment: Check the forums. Not only does used gear get more life in the hobby before ending up in a landfill, you’ll save a ton of money which can then go towards buying more gear or livestock. I have someone picking up my old 100g tank for $80 tomorrow and that’s after putting in a lot of elbow grease removing most of the scratches from the panels. I’m happy to give someone a great price on a tank because other people on the forum give me a great prices on stuff.

You don’t necessarily “need” more rock from a filtration standpoint provided you use other means of nutrient export. I ran that same 100g pictured towards the end of its life with very little rock, some sand and tons of livestock. It also had a biopellet reactor and protein skimmer in the sump which was more than adequate at keeping nitrates at scary low levels. If you like that “open” look in your tank by having less rock, you can absolutely do it and have great success.
