Definitely something special about those 7'sShare more than just a tiny frag!
7s are also my preferred dkh. Grown a bunch of 12” colonies at these levels and not lost but a few frags and a random colony rtn.
I started off with NSW. Played with a few different salts then went back to NSW(im in South Florida close to the ocean)I must say my best tank no question was ran off NSW. Only issue was the magnesium was extremely low around 1220Some of the bigger sps vendors recommend 7s. That is NSW levels anyways.
For growth I focus on PH. Most will tell you don't chase it but I definitely consume more with a higher PH..Interesting. I guess its not surprising they are fond of NSW levels, but I wonder what the trade off in growth rate

Agree 100%. I think that advice is mostly beneficial for newer reefers, because growth rate should typically not be the focus in that first year or so when establishing stability is the priority above all else. But for more advanced folks, if you are trying to squeeze out every bit of growth acceleration you can, increasing pH can make a pretty dramatic impact. For growth I focus on PH. One of the best decisions I've made was running the skimmer intake from outside. I had the same issue 7.8-8.1 if I'm lucky daily until I ran the hose from outside. After trying the scrubber & having success i said F it & drilled the wall lolI'll never run NSW being in Montana and all. But I am in the process of getting my Alk to 7.5 or so. I also installed a CO2 scrubber a couple weeks back. Went from 7.7-8 to 7.9 - 8.2. Pretty good improvement.

BOOM!I'm currently in a rental while I do a full gut and remodel on our home. That should be done in Marchish. When it is my intake for my skimmer will be outside.
