My attempt at a candy cane

Hello all, you all have never steered me wrong :) so I’m trying my attempt at a LPS never really played with coral before my current tank of 6 months. Anyway, I have a candy cane pretty to look at if you ask me, my parameters are perfect with the exception of my nitrates being a tad high (20 Red Sea test kit lol), but I’m throwing a small bit of reef chili on it. I have a kessil 160we....I just want some reefer input from you all, what would you do different? Do you think it looks right wrong or indifferent?

IME they can grow in low to medium light. It looks good in that spot.

I agree with Scott, they look like they are doing good where they are. I’ve grown them in various water depths with no issues as long as they weren’t getting hit with too much water flow. If or when I feed my candy canes I feed them mysis and other meaty foods, same as I feed the fish.

Awesome!!! I’ve researched them, I’ve had this one a couple months, but lack of experience makes me wonder if I’m doing things right or wrong....thank you!!!!

They should be fairly easy to keep and I’ve got them in both high and medium light and in my tanks they seem to grow slightly better in the higher positions.

They also like good water flow

If they look like there doing ok leave them were they are, but if not try moving them higher up.

Looks like a good spot. Your nitrates are not high at 20 a lot of folks keep theirs around that number some higher. Po4 is usually less than .10 or close to it.

So a little phosphates is okay? There has been times I’ve struggled with my phosphates and keeping them down...

I guess my only issue is, I don’t know if it looks good or bad, I mean in my opinion three months it doesn’t look like it’s grown or done much, so I just wanted everyone’s input...brand new to the LPS scene lol but I have it right in the path of my ecotech
