Last week I took Deuce my bearded dragon to the vet because he is really sick. They took some cultures and ran some tests and said they would call me today with the results. It turns out he has e coli. I've had a fever for the last 5 days and have been very sick. I thought I just had the flu or something. I looked up e coli online and I have all the symptoms. Point of the story. If you have reptiles make sure you wash your hands after handling them.

Dang bro! How are you doing now?

I'm doing good. I'm not really worried about it. Its not life threatening. I just made a doctors appointment. Hopefully Deuce will make a full recovery.

Glad to see your all right.......Yea here in michigan the banned turtels for that reason. A lot of LFS had to quit selling them, but now they are thinking about allowing to sell them again. There was a prop to stop all reptile sales as well but that got shot down.

I've had pet reptiles for most of my life and never had any problems. I never really believed you could get sick from them.

It's terribly ironic that the lizard's name is Deuce now isn't it?

I don't mean to make light---I really am scared ****-less!

What I mean is--I hope you get better fast.

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Hope you get better soon.
This scares me, because my 8 year old has a tree frog and an iguana that he cares for himself. He thinks I'm a crazy freak because I make him wash his hands so much while he is taking care of them.

Thanks everyone. Were both doing good. Both of us are starting meds today so we should make a full recovery in a few days or weeks.

On a side note. The reason I named him Deuce is because the Philadelphia Eagles used to have Deuce Staley at running back. When ever he would touch the ball the crowd would chant DDDDEEEEEUUUUUCCCCE. So naturally I named my pet lizard after this chant and whenever I feed him I chant deuce while he eats.

Deuce Staley is a Steeler. ;)

I am in Newtown, PA right now!

I am glad you are on the road to recovery.

What do bearded dragons eat? Veggies like iguanas or meat?
Deuce is 6 years old so when he was named Deuce Staley was in his prime with the Eagles.
Newtown is not to far away from Philly. Is that where you live? Maybe we can set up some trades in the future.
Beardies eat about 95% veggies. He gets crickets once a week but he eats a salad twice a day.

LOL! I was just bustin ya. I really thought Staley was exciting--it was a tough time to be him in Pgh with Bettis and Parker at the time. His injuries were a bummer. But yeah--I was just pickin on ya--birdie!!

My company is based in Newtown but I live in Pittsburgh. I travel here at least once a month--and many a time come with a cooler full o' coral for trades! I have met up with a bunch of peeps in the Philly area often. I would definitely be up for some trades. I would have to drop off to you on my way in and then pick up on my way out---I usually stay for 2 days or so.

So if the bearded dragon got it first, do you think it came from it's own crappingz or from the veggies?
