My Derasa Clam Growth

I got this from LiveAquaria about 2 years ago and it was my first clam ever attempted. I heard they could grow fast but I wasn't sure I'd have the same success with mine. I also read a lot about feeding phytoplankton to clams and I wasn't interested in that but it turns out that it isn't needed. It's been sitting on the bottom of my 75 under 150w of MH and for the past year under 120w leds in which it really grew a lot.

Mine really took off when I started dosing alk, calc, and mag. The white "new growth" on the edge of the shell is about 3/4 of an inch long. It's growing much faster than the coraline.

If I don't see new white growth on my clam I know something is wrong.

good growth, i have one too. Its about 18" long now still a baby, they will get up to 3' ;)

Wow Gabriel! Your clam really grew! It looks awesome and I bet you're proud of it. :) I was thinking about getting a deresa clam too but not sure where in my 120 I would put it. The bottom is covered with chalices. lol!

How much would you say it's grown? While it does look bigger in the second pic, it also looks like a close up. Regardless it looks very nice and happy

It was 2 inches long when I got it. It is 6 inches now. Notice the rows of "spots" on the outer edge of the mantle? It didn't have any when I got it and just recently added a 3rd row.

It stopped growing a couple of months ago and the mantle looked all pinched in. I was really worried about it. It grew a small scute out of the side like a maxima or squamosa does and it took off growing again.
