I have been watching a lot of videos and reading a lot of about building acrylic aquariums. I have decided to take on the new hobby and try out for myself. I would like my first project to be a bit on the larger side. I was thinking 24" wide x 24" deep x 48" tall. My question for all of you experienced DIY guys out there is how thick do I need to go on the acrylic to avoid bowing? 1 to 1.25?

That is quite a tall tank. Are you sure 48" tall?? Your not going to be able to reach the bottom to place anything in the tank. Check out my thread. It's called " my 180 build ".
