**So this is just going to become my notebook where I keep track of everything**

I have been wanting to make one of those awesome "Here is my tank" threads with part lists and great pictures. But I am now 30 days in and don't have it in me yet, but I want to start. So here is my tank. It is 5 feet wide, designed with help from the LFS. It is an absolute baby, as am I in managing an aquarium.

Right now, I have a handful of snails, a scarlet shrimp, 2 clownfish, and an urchin. I have 4 corals: 1 hammer, 1 torch, 1 zoa, and 1 candy cane LPS. I want to go out and buy about 20 frags and half a dozen fish. But since I'm still learning to manage parameters and letting the tank mature, I am taking it slow.

So far, my absolute favorite picture of the tank was my kids staring in silence as I fed the shrimp. My son runs to look at it 20 times a day and has been so interested in it all—particularly putting his hands into the in-use filter socks.

Still waiting on parts to arrive and working on writing out a plan for a mixing station. Much more to come! :D

Mixing Station Plan

My tank is in my office in the basement. My unfinished furnace room with exposed cooper water pipes and a floor drain is just a closet and a wall away. So, I am wanting to install my Tideline 6-stage RODI filter in there along with 2 35 gallon water reservoirs.

The tanks I opted for were 35 gallon due more to size constaints than anything else. LFS recommended 2 55 gallon Brutes but the round shape and larger size just made it too difficult to use the furnace room for anything else.

My biggest challenge right now is how to get supple lines and waste lines where they need to go. I'm thinking about "fishing" 1/4" RO tubing from the furnance room to the bank of the tank.

I also need to figure out the pump and plumbing plans between the fresh water and salt water tank. But it looks like there are many great guides on this site alone so I will Frankenstein a plan together from everyone who came before me.

Plumbing list:

I am planning to get my plumbing from here

6 - 1" ball valves
5 - 1" elbows
3 - 1" tees
3 - 5' 1" PVC sections, probably more than I need but I make mistakes (prob sch 80)
2 - 1" bulkheads / 1" PVC Tank Adapter

Clear glue
Pump
stand
heater
mixer
salinty monitor

Control System:

I am really torn what to do here. I got in a little over my head and didn't realize how complicated the mixing station would be. $500 on tanks, grr ok. But now they sit in my basement and I'm realizing I am going to have to either use cheap piecemail Chinese parts or spend another $1000 on Hydros equipement. What to do...

Hi and Welcome to R2R.

Great start. Absolutely keep going slow or the tank will turn into a money pit.
