Hey everyone. I've had this GSP frag for about 1 month now. Opened up and started growing. Have it on its own island. Noticed over the last 5 days it hasn't opened up like it used to. Stays closed with the exception of a few heads opening. My nitrates were 25 and I've been trying ro tone down some GHA ive noticed on the sand bed...so im currently now gonna do 3 30% water changes over the next week. I did the first one yesterday with maintenence on my cannister filter. I removed all foam pads and now use filter bags to house media etc.

Today tested water

Nitrates 10 with salifert (2.5 when viewing from side and dividing by 10).

Noticed this white thing on the coral...i took a video with the whites on so you can see.

Any ideas? Should I take the frag off the rock and dip again?

GSP does that and 25 nitrates probably makes it happier than lower. Mine hover around 40 or so. I've seen a few people with higher. My stereo tends to do much better if I keep them on the higher side.

Yeah...i was reading that. I am basically doing a big water change to help with the GHA growth I've noticed before it gets out of hand. Just weird my GSP stopped opening altogether. Today not one single head opened. I dipped it anyway...and moved it to a higher area near flow...if it opens up again (which I hope it does) I may actually prefer it up there.

Mine sometimes won't open and I give it a blow over with a turkey baister then next day its normally open. Mines in quite low flow so it gets a bit of detritus trapped around it

Same could be said for mine. I had it on an island on its own, not being on top it has all the flow...maybe it just wanted to be on top lol
