Hi guys! I hope you’re not too tired of nuvo10 builds because here comes another one! I’m a new member on R2R but I've used this site for years and have become completely dependent on the information and advice that is shared here so I finally felt like it was time to stop lurking and start contributing. I've been working on setting up a new tank after a few years away from the hobby. This will be my fourth nano reef over the last 10 yearsish and I thought it would be fun to document the experience. Super excited about this build and setup so far!!!
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
-Nuvo 10
-IM Mighty Jet DC return
-Jager 50 watt heater
-Inkbird heater controller
-Refractometer
-IM media basket
-AI Prime 16HD reef (haven’t decided on mount yet)
-API test kit
-Marine pure gems
-About 7 lbs of Marco rock plus a few foundation pieces
The plan with this tank is to keep a light bioload and mainly focus on corals while also keeping it relatively low maintenance. So I'm thinking softie tank. As of right now, I'm not planning on running a skimmer and or an ATO. I've had an ATO disaster before and because of that, I'm a little scared of them despite their convenience. The big new thing for me on this one is that I'm going to go bare bottom. This will be my first BB tank so I'm sure I'll have questions down the road. I did go ahead and silicone a piece of textured ABS plastic to the bottom of the tank just to protect the glass.
I'm going to start working on aquascape tonight and hopefully start the cycle this weekend! Any advice is more than welcomed. Thanks for following along!
8/7/21 - About 4 months after the move/upgrade
10/7/22 - After adding a few new rock structures and moving some coral around for better placement
