Oh yes it has plenty of growth good mantle extension, I would just like it in another spot but really dont want to bother it if I dont have toTheir natural location is on rock work. They require a lot of light so unless your par on the sand is higher than most you should probably keep it in the rocks. It's a little bit troubling that it hasn't attached. Do you see any new growth on the shell (white new shell on the rim)?
Never moved once and yes it has growth ringsMaximas hate being moved. If it has been on the rock for 8 months and you see some white growth, leave it. If it has jumped off many times, move it down. Nice clam!
It's attached to a small clam shell so moving it won't be an issue, it's more of a real estate problem it's about 8 inches and my sps have all the other good spots on my rock work, so I guess it's gonna stay where it is.If you've got another place on the rock you would prefer It would be ok (if flow and lighting are similar). If it seems happy and is growing I would personally leave it where it is.
If you decide to move it make sure it's not attached...don't want to injure it removing it.
Mine is on the sandbed. Just assure there is plenty so it cam plant its' foot. I placed a cup of sand in that area to deepen it
It may need more light, maxima need ALOT of light and they prefer being on rock. Try moving it higher in the tank
No I don't have a par meter, but the clan is about 14 below the light. I have 4 a360x and 2 coral plus bulbs to help with any shadingSorry to jump on your thread as well, but do you know what PAR yours is getting? I've wanted to add one but wasn't sure my light were strong enough.
Thanks for the reply, ok i'm gonna put another piece of LR right directly under one of the 3 LED's to get it higher but would you say it's healthy enuff to move, he goes in & out great when Fish swim by but you think it"s too open? Thanks, TimIt may need more light, maxima need ALOT of light and they prefer being on rock. Try moving it higher in the tank
Not sure is it's too open, though its said they do that when they need more light. Of it retracts when a fish swims by it, that's a sign of a healthy clam. Move it up and observe how it reacts and move accordinglyThanks for the reply, ok i'm gonna put another piece of LR right directly under one of the 3 LED's to get it higher but would you say it's healthy enuff to move, he goes in & out great when Fish swim by but you think it"s too open?
