My Miami for Firereef/Hsu Family Benefit

Here's what I'd like to do, and just my small way of trying to help out a fellow reefer going through something I can't even imagine...

So this is the JF My Miami I was fortunate enough to receive from WWC through R2R, and obviously it's growing out, though it's not ready for fragging yet. What I'd like to do is hold a 'silent auction' whereby you PM me the donation you'd be willing to send firereef in return for receiving a donation of a one-eye frag of this once it's big enough to frag.

So here's the details:

bidding closes 30th September at 11:59pm PST. All bids submit to me via PM. By offering a bid, you're agreeing to a few conditions.

1.) This is not ready for fragging yet, and though i'm doing my best to aggresively grow it, I can't give you a timetable for when it's ready to frag. Additionally I'd like to let the frag heal before shipping it, so please understand there's no exact timetable on when you'll actually receive your frag.
2.) I'll cover shipping
3.) This is life, if something happens to the coral or my tank crashes, I won't really be able to offer you compensation. Thus why I've termed this all as you giving firereef a donation, and in return you'll receive a donation of the My Miami.
4.) The donation you will be making will be sent to the paypal acount Rehvtree has set up, I won't put up my paypal address at any point, nor will I make it available to you.
5.) Bids of the same amount will have priority given to the time the PM was received by me-thus if winning bid is identical, whoever put it in first gets the donation.

I don't typically like to hype stuff, but I think this is for a VERY good cause, so please keep that in mind-you're doing something good beyond just getting something nice in return.

And of course-eye candy :D

this is about 3 weeks after I received the single eye

realizing in the week since this pic was taken, there's been some development of the eyes with a few fully comign in, and a slight increase in size of the entire skeletal structure. Frag has been repositioned to be flat on the sandbed with the fragplug buried so as to encourage the structure to grow out flat.


If you REALLY insist, I'll be willing to give you a few flatworms with it...

Just for a little clarification: What is considered "big enough to frag?" When was the photo taken? Looks like 4 new eyes were forming. So will the highest bidder be the only one to donate? The bidding closes at 11:59pm EST or WST (I see you are in San Diego)?

A stamp of endorsement by a mod (just to verify this does not break any rules and is legit) and by any fellow R2R member in the area (just so you don't back out of donating a frag if the highest bidder is $60) would be great.

All fair questions- I'll edit the original post to put in the proper time which will be Pacific Standard Time. And yes, I'm only as of now offering the donation to the highest bidder-if there's two high bids I'll contact the second highest and see if they're interested in donating as well to also be compensated with a frag at a later point.

As far as when it's ready-that's entirely going to be judgement. I'm not waiting for some magical number of eyes, more so just when the colony apears to have a sufficient amount of growth around it that fragging will not result in losing the colony, nor the frag. It does have about 5 eyes right now, but there's not much body at this point, mostly eyes. I believe this will allow me to keep feeding aggresively and grow it, but I'd like at least 1/4-1/2" of tissue surrounding the eye that I'd frag.

As for the vouching by a mod and a local reefer-I'll leave that to them and again, understand the need for the question. Hopefully a few will step up here.

I've PMd Revh, both to make sure this is ok and to make sure the paypal acount will remain open. I think he's been a little busy lately as I haven't heard back from a previous PM, but didn't want to wait too long to put this up and get it going.

Hey everybody Drainbamage is my roommate, and while I know I'm rather elusive, I wanted to comment on the great job he's been doing feeding and caring for the My Miami. In less than a month he turned a one eye frag into a 5-6 eye frag with awesome color! Mostly I just wanted you guys to know the coral is in really good and capable hands, and whoever wins this frag will not be disappointed. That aside, the money is going to help a great member of the reefing community in his time of need. Please show your support, your generosity, and for it you'll be one of the few to receive a very nice piece of this beautiful coral. Thank you, and happy bidding!

I will speak on the behalf of Brian (DrainBramage) I have known him for 5 years now on a day to day basis. I have held many jobs with him and counted on him greatly to complete personal and professional events. In addition if for some reason something would happen to the frag that Brian is placing up for auction I will donate a single eyed frag to replace his. Same conditions apply to my frag as does Brians.
