My mixed 220

I have been asked about my equipment running my tank a couple of times but I haven't ever taken pictures of it. So here it is in all it's tangled rats nest of cords glory!!!

Who says ASM G3 skimmers don't pull out some nasty gunk?! This is only 4 days worth.......

I have organized the cords and zip tied them all nice and neat before but I like to clean my pumps too much for it to stay that way. So now I just live with it! Can you tell it used to be a closet! LOL

Ok it's time for another update. Nothing really new but I have been getting some pretty good growth in my SPS again. This tank has been up for just over a year now! Now if I could learn to just leave things alone and quit re-aquascapeing..........

I figure I'm not using the return for flow only for filtration through the sump. So I don't need a HUGE return pump. Plus I figure it if ain't broke don't fix it is the approach I take to running my tank. LOL. I am planning on getting a new return pump soon but for the safety factor rather than turn over. Mag Drive pumps are known to fail........

seeing that your tank is doing so well with such a small turn over rate gives me confidence to do so on my new 220 build !! been seeing alot of tanks with low turn over with completely healthy live stack. really looking good Dave. keep the posts coming. and thanks for sharing

Thanks Nater! I think that with a lower return rate through my sump that the skimmer can actually have a better chance to skim more stuff out of the water.

Great looking tank I enjoyed your thread and will continue to follow yOur progress

Looking good Dave! I hear ya on leaving it alone and not re scaping, I was looking at my tank today and thinking what if I move that rock up there and this rock over there.....

This thread is getting pretty picture intense so why not add some more to it:bigsmile: Here are some top down shots. I can't believe the ammount of growth I have gotten in such a short amount of time! I just hope that it continues.........

These CAR's started as a single polyp and a baby in mid Jan.

Looks great. I actually just put my brand new 220 on the stand today, was pretty excited.

Funny you are using a mag 9.5, cause thats what I was going to use on mine. However, since I get my equipment super cheap, I went with a WaterBlaster 7000. I'm gonna run a manifold, so that pump will also feed multiple reactors as well as return. Thinking about using 3 of the 1 inch holes for drain, and then the other for the return.

I want to eventually upgrade to a ATB so I can run my reactors and frag tank as well as the display too. But I'll have to save up for that one. LOL.

Great looking tank.. now i need to go back and reread your thread....

Thanks! You didn't miss much by not reading it! I didn't put a lot of in-depth descriptions in here. I figured a picture is worth a thousand words so I don't need to add too much to it...:)

wow sweet setup man just look at them grown very nice and thank you for your updates

I was curious about your setup, equipment and so forth..

My display is an AGA 220g reef ready, I have a 75g sump/fuge , ASM G3 skimmer, BRS dual media reactor (gfo and carbon), 2 Vortec MP40's running on 100% reef crest mode and 2 Vortec MP10's running on 75% lagoon mode, 3x 250w MH (2 single ended 20k raduims and 1 DE 14k hamilton) and 4x54w T5 ati blue + . I dose 90 ml of BRS 2 part and 30 ml of Mg daily. My photo period is: the blues (T5) come on at noon and go off at 10pm the MH comes on at 2 and goes off at 8:30pm. I change ~25g of water every other week with a mixture of reefcrystals and corallife salts. I also run chaeto in my fuge on a reverse light cycle. I think thats it LOL.
