Corals: various softies,
Zoas, Toadstool, GSP, maybe a gorgonian or colt coral
Maybe some LPS in the future?
Be careful with gsp. They grow like crazy and take over quickly

If you google "diy protein skimmer", im using a deign similar to the King of DIY's (Joey Mullen) design.
And I plan to place the GSP on a small "island" in the sand bed. Ill frag them when they extend off the rock. No touching the Zoas! ;)

I think a goby/shrimp pair would work nice... they don’t need a lot of space once they settle in. I had a yellow watchman goby/pistol shrimp combo in my first nano :)

I'm curious, why the HOB filter? What are you hoping for it to do for your system?
Should help keep heavy particulates out of the water, same as running a filter sock in a sump :)

I have a big FW fishroom, and am working on setting up my first saltwater tank (the ten gal, of course). Keeping FW aquariums hasn't helped that much w/ my saltwater setup, but there's some experience that carries over.
