I've had numerous saltwater tanks but I've never had one that I was in the first and the only owner, I'm starting a 120 gallon build and I'm going to build as much as I can to unclude, stand, hood, controller cabinet, and sump. I just started the stand. I have the Plexi ordered for the sump. And the tank was just paid for.

Looking good! That excitement when you finally getting a new one. Same here, not that I can’t afford certain things, but a lot of stuffs just so justifiable when buying used some can save thousand of dollars. Then with the savings, I always found that is easy to justify to buy more stuffs lol.

Construction on the base part of my 120 gallon stand is complete, inside is painted everything is sealed. Tomorrow will be my first attempt at veneering. I have the mahogany veneer acclimating and lying flat. Next weekend it should be finished and in the room waiting for completion of the controls cabinet and hood.

Veneer complete, wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Now I have to double check my plexiglass list to get ready to order it to build my sump.

The stain on this looks awesome almost dead on the color that I wanted, can't wait until tomorrow so I can start to put the first of 10 coats of wipe on poly.

Looks great. I did my 120 build at the beginning of the year. The build part is definitely fun but it always takes longer than you plan. I was itching so badly to get it wet, but I’m glad that I didn’t rush anything. DIY stands and canopies are awesome. Can’t wait to see how your hood turns out!

Building the sump is a no-go because plexy prices are through the roof right now with all the businesses ordering sneeze guards, not to mention the four to six-week backlog on getting the supplies so I just bit the bullet and ordered the Trigger Systems 39" sump. It's about 3" bigger in protein skimmer area and 6" the smaller in the refugium. The refugium part sucks because now my algae scrubber / Mangrove setup will not work as designed so I'm going to have a stand-alone mangrove display / possibly seahorse in the upper part of the control cabinet.

Control cabinet construction completed interior paint almost finished. Mahogany Veneer will probably have to wait a couple weeks because I may have a broken foot. Invoice just arrived for two orphek full size version 2 lights.
