This is an awesome build! Will you add a top to prevent the clowns from jumping? How is the skimmer? I almost purchased it but I was told it wouldn’t fit over the lip of my BioCube. Also, how is the tidal filter? Almost bought one for one of my classroom freshwater tanks but I was too nervous to ditch my Aquaclear.

Thanks. I don’t have any plans right now for a top mainly because building one to go around the filters would be kind of a nightmare but depending on what other fish I end up getting for it I might have to in the future. The seachem tidal filter I have has been awesome so far. I like the fact that it is made to put whatever media I want in it and not designed for crappy filter cartridges. The qq1 skimmer is just ok. I’m hoping once I get a bit more bioload in the tank that it’ll start running better but so far it really hasn’t done a whole lot and with the amount of fish I usually end up having I probably should’ve gotten the qq3 skimmer instead and will probably upgrade to that down the road if the qq1 starts running better. I like the style of the qq1 and qq3 skimmer because it doesn’t have a pump hanging in the tank but so far the qq1 doesn’t really produce much foam at all.

My orange storm clowns showed up today. Super pumped to have something in the tank other than snails, lol. I got these clowns from www.cultivatedreef.com. They had the best price around for these clowns hands down and I can’t recommend them enough.

I kinda wish I had a screen top on my tank because last night one of my clowns disappeared. Between the legs on my light and the hob filters I can’t really put a screen on and have access to the tank

So my local reef club put on a fragtober event yesterday and it was the perfect time to add corals to my tank since the diatoms cleared up. I also added a small rbta which I’m hoping my now solo clown fish () will at some point host. These are obviously pics under all lights on and I’ll post just blue lights on pics right after I post this

Looking good! This build is extremely similar to mine.

Did you take par readings at any different settings? My light is running at 60% blues / 20% whites, so I bet my numbers are similar to yours.

Sort of. I placed my par meter in the sand with all pumps off and adjusted everything while it was on the sand bed. That way I could get the color I liked and have the numbers I need too. Once I got it close to where I wanted it then I moved the par meter around the tank to check everywhere and also checked with the flow on to see how much the rippling of the flow would reduce the numbers

Shot a little time lapse video after feeding reef roids to a few frags and my rbta. Apparently my iPhone shoots time lapse videos in 480 so the quality isn’t great but the video still came out pretty cool...I think so anyways, lol

So I’m 1 week into the cycling process now and with a daily pinch flake food and a cap full of seachem stability this is where I’m at. I know my salinity is a hair high but while I was waiting for my refractometer calibration solution to show up (it came in last night) I calibrated to 0 with distilled water which is obviously not nearly as exact but close enough to start the cycling process.Looking forward to seeing what next weeks testing shows. Slow and steady wins the race...right? Lol

what app are you using to track your cycle?
